In the textile industry, weaving is a crucial process that transforms yarns into fabrics by interlacing them at right angles. However, the quality of the final fabric heavily depends on how well the yarn tension is controlled during the weaving process. Improper yarn tension can lead to various issues, such as yarn breakage, fabric defects, uneven appearance, and material waste, ultimately affecting the overall quality and efficiency of the production. The Importance of Textile Yarn Tension Control

 

Controlling yarn tension during weaving is a complex task due to the numerous factors that influence it. These factors include yarn diameter, weaving machine speed, friction between yarns and machine parts, and more. Moreover, these factors are constantly changing throughout the weaving process, making it challenging to maintain optimal yarn tension consistently.

 

Traditional methods of yarn tension control often fall short, leading to suboptimal fabric quality and increased production costs. To address this issue, researchers have developed an optimized control method for textile yarn tension, which promises to revolutionize the weaving industry.

The Optimized Control Method

 

The proposed optimized control method for textile yarn tension control employs a cascade control system that combines tension control and position control. This approach involves two controllers: one for directly controlling the yarn tension and another for controlling the position of the rollers that feed and wind up the yarns.

 

By integrating these two control mechanisms, the system achieves precise and stable control over yarn tension, ensuring consistent fabric quality throughout the weaving process.

 

Advanced Control Techniques

 

To further enhance the performance of the optimized control system, the researchers have incorporated several advanced control techniques, including:

 

Feedback controllers: 

These controllers use sensors to measure the actual yarn tension and roller positions, comparing them with the desired values and making necessary adjustments.

 

Feedforward controllers: 

These controllers anticipate and compensate for disturbances or changes in the system before they occur, ensuring smoother and more responsive control.

 

Disturbance observers: 

These observers estimate and cancel out any external disturbances or noise that may affect the measurement and control of yarn tension and roller positions.

 

By combining these advanced control techniques, the optimized control system can effectively handle the dynamic nature of the weaving process, ensuring optimal yarn tension control and minimizing fabric defects and material waste.

The optimized control method for textile yarn tension control has been extensively tested on real weaving machines and compared against other conventional methods. The results have been promising, demonstrating superior performance in reducing yarn breakage, fabric defects, and production costs.
